About the Recall:
Lyons Magnus (“Lyons”) has initiated a voluntary recall regarding specific lots of their Abbott Nutrition products distributed by McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS).
Lyons is conducting this voluntary recall due to the potential for microbial contamination including the organism Cronobacter sakazakii and Clostridium botulinum.
Cronobacter sakazakii can cause severe infections in young children when ingested, particularly those younger than 1 year. The symptoms of illness may include fever, irritability, lack of appetite, and other severe symptoms. Clostridium botulinum may cause a severe form of food poisoning. It can begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contains the toxin. Symptoms may include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, and muscle weakness. Botulism poisoning can cause respiratory paralysis, resulting in death, unless assistance with breathing (mechanical ventilation) is provided.
To date, no illnesses related to these products have been reported.
